Frequently Asked Questions about tutOR

Faq # 1:

Why is tutOR so anti-Java?

Answer

tutOR is not anti-Java. tutOR is not pro-Java. tutOR is Java-neutral. We shall use Java when and if needed. It is a pity though that the language that is supposed to help us do all those exciting things is so user unfriendly and so heavy.

There are two main reasons for Java not being so visible on this site so far:

  • We try to keep tutOR light and highly interactive

  • Our budget is limited.

Sooner or later though we shall have to use Java.

Faq # 2:

Why is tutOR so JavaScript intensive?

Answer

At present tutOR is JavaScript intensive because there is no other tool around to do what we want to do. We have no vested in JavaScript, nor are we of the opinion that JavaScript is a great language. But, at present there is no choice in this matter.

In short, there are two main reasons for tutOR being so JavaScript intensive at present:

  • We try to keep tutOR light and highly interactive.

  • Our budget is limited.

Sooner or later though we shall have to use some other tools.
